Gàidhealtachd Support Grants

Gàidhealtachd Support grants are made to organizations and individuals not substantially connected to ACGA for the purpose of advancing the Gaelic language. Recipients of such financial support typically are involved in programs aimed at strengthening the language in the traditional Gaelic-speaking regions of Scotland and Nova Scotia. However, Gaidhealtachd Support awards are not limited to just these two geographic areas and we will consider requests for any initiative that seeks to advance “the greater Gaelic good” regardless of locale.

How to Apply

ACGA is a small organization, and the size of our grants generally falls in the $100 - $1,000 range. We do ask that recipients of these awards write a short piece about their program for publication in our quarterly newsletter Naidheachd. This gives our membership a better idea of how their dues are being spent, as well as provides an opportunity to invite direct contributions from ACGA members themselves.

Those who are interested in applying may do so by writing in either Gaelic or English to ACGA’s Gaidhealtachd Support Committee. (Contact information is listed at this website under Organization.) Useful information to include would be:

1. Name of organization and contact information
2. Brief description and history of the organization
3. Description of program for which funds are being requested and the expected Gaelic benefit in the target area
4. Total cost of the program
5. Time frame of the program
6. Time frame for when funds need to be received

The above prescribed format may be altered to be more relevant to the applicant’s situation.

We look forward to hearing from you. ‘S gun éirigh gu math leibh!
