SGEIR Retreat 2009
SGEIR (The Scottish Gaelic Enthusiasts in Richmond) is resuming its annual Immersion Retreat!
It is going to be held this year on the weekend of May 8 - 10, 2009 at James River State Park ( http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/jam.shtml ).
We will be staying in a lodge which houses 16 people. The cost is $90 per person. Each person will be responsible for bringing his or her own breakfast, lunch, and snacks for those days. We will be having a potluck welcome ceilidh upon arrival Friday night. Please bring a dish to share. For our dinner Saturday night, we have planned to have lasagne as a main course, with the side dishes being potluck, as well.
We are planning to have 3 teachers for 3 levels of learning: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
Saturday night, as we have done in the past, we are planning a ceilidh. Please bring any acoustic instruments you may have and/or your voice. Be prepared to share a story, song, and/or poem. Bagpipes are welcome -- however, we may have to move to an area different from the lodge in order to enjoy it. Uilleann pipes are preferred in the lodge.
Please contact Daphne Saul at dtstsz91@hotmail.com for more information. Be sure to put "SGEIR Retreat" in the subject line. Do not delay, as we need all information and monies received by April 10, 2009.
Please feel free to forward this information to anyone you think may be interested in attending this event.
