4 levels: beginner,
intermediate beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

Guest teachers will be Cathy-Ann MacPhee and Goiridh Dòmhnallach (Jeff MacDonald). In celebration of our “10th Annual Gaelic Retreat” will have two guest instructors, this is a first for SGEIR. Cathy Ann will teach Gaelic Song classes and Goiridh will teach Gaelic Language classes, using a new method. This will be the best Retreat we have ever had. You will not want to miss it. We have only so many spaces available so please sign up and send your deposit in as soon as possible.
Late Afternoon - free for hiking, sleeping, reading,
studying...whatever you wish.
We will also have a Gaelic Book
Store Saturday afternoon. No credit cards are accepted. Please, have
cash or personal check.
Dinner: 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Please
plan to help with clean-up.
Cèilidh - 8:30 p.m. till
the wee hours:
Sing a song, read/recite a poem, tell a story, or
play an instrument. Hopefully we will also do some Scottish Country
Dancing, so bring your dancing shoes if you have them. We want
everyone to participate in the cèilidh and have a good time.
Silent Auction: Please bring something you would like to
action off. We are not looking for White Elephants/junk.
However, Gaelic/Celtic CD’s, Books, Art, or anything you would
consider biding on yourself would be great. The money we raise
from this auction goes toward our Scholarships and for donations to
other groups and or individuals furthering the study of
Gaelic.
SUNDAY:
Breakfast - 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Sunday
Class or Song Workshop - 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
Lunch -
12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m.
Goodbye - 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
** You are all asked to help with the clean-up of the
kitchen after meals and the lodge before leaving on Sunday afternoon,
this will only take about 30 minuites, if we all chip in.
WHAT
YOU NEED TO BRING….

Pillow, sheets and blanket or sleeping bag (We are sleeping in heated "longhouses" on built-in beds with mattresses.)

Towels and toiletries

warm clothes, rain gear (if you bring an umbrella it won't rain!)

Hiking shoes or good walking shoes

Flashlight (the "facilities" are a little walk from the long-houses)

class materials /pens/paper, tape recorders, tapes etc.

musical instruments, dancing shoes, special song, etc. for Saturday night cèilidh.

Lodging in "long houses" (rustic,
bunk-style huts) and meals
(Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner on Saturday and
Breakfast/Lunch on Sunday are prepared by our own SGEIR Chefs. The
food is great!

We will need desserts and snacks. If your last name
begins with A – L bring a dessert, everyone else bring snacks.
Bring your favorite beverage of choice – soda, juice, or bottled
water. Main meals, coffee and hot tea will be provided
throughout the weekend. Any extras that you may want, you will
need to bring. Camp Hanover is a Presbyterian Church Camp and
is an “Alcohol Free Zone”. We always have more than enough
food so it isn’t necessary to bring a lot.
Fees:
$110
for SGEIR members (must be a student in SGEIR Classes)
$125 for
non-members
Family members not attending classes
$85 - adults
and children 12 and over
$50 - children under 12
A
non-refundable deposit ($55.00 for SGEIR members and $60.00 for
non-members) is due by Saturday, December 3, as we must pay Camp
Hanover. If this is a problem and you would still like to attend
please email me.
Your families are very welcome,
however, we only have 4-5 cabins, so we don't always have a cabin
available for each family. We will make every effort to accomodate
you, but also ask for your understanding in this matter.
Camp
Hanover is in a beautiful setting with many things to do when we are
not in class. This is a wonderful educational weekend enjoyed by
all.
